Book: Liquid Work - Working 3.0

Liquid Work - Arbeiten 3.0

Unfortunately, sustainability has become an overused word that is often prefixed to terms such as marketing, business management and personnel management. People are all too happy to confuse “sustainable” with “long-lasting”. This term originally comes from forestry and celebrates its 300th birthday in 2013. The basis of sustainability is the conscious and careful use of natural resources.

My first book is about genuine sustainability and the conscious and careful use of companies’ most important natural resource
– people.

IMPORTANT! Even though this book was published in 2012, it is still relevant and explosive today … because Work 3.0 is still a long way off!

What is the Liquid Work book about?

“Liquid Work – Arbeiten 3.0“.

Rhythms are the basic prerequisite for nature to function. Humans have also followed rhythms for as long as we have existed. Since industrialization, however, it is no longer natural rhythms that are coordinated and complement each other, but artificial, man-made rhythms. Working hours, opening hours, school hours, exam times, mealtimes and even free time are all packed into rhythms that obey the efficiency of economic systems and no longer the laws of nature. What worked up to a certain speed of change is increasingly beginning to fall apart at the seams. The artificial rhythms have to be constantly adapted and thus lose their actual basic function.

Based on the determining rhythm of paid work, it is increasingly difficult to organize oneself on the basis of this artificially enforced rhythm of life. People are still bending in the direction of these artificial guidelines. But a paradigm shift is already in the air.

Liquid Work – Working 3.0 deals with this paradigm shift and shows possible solutions. The focus is no longer on paid work, but on people and their individual, natural rhythms. The science of chronobiology deals with this – let’s call it the “inner clock” – of people. Everyone knows early types (larks) and late types (owls). And everyone can very quickly find themselves in one of these types. However, these two types only represent the lighthouse that you see from afar. If you take a closer look at chronobiology, you will see much more. “A thousand windows open up!” a management consultant once said to me after my presentation.

Liquid Work – Working 3.0 offers entrepreneurs and managers, as well as those responsible at employers’ liability insurance associations and health insurance companies, and not least employees, a completely new insight into possible forms of work. Forms of work that not only lead to better health, regardless of any medication or treatment, but also to greater efficiency and satisfaction. As simple and obvious as the definition of “liquid work” will ultimately appear, the after-effects are complex. Work will be redefined and heteronomy will give way to a new self-confidence.

“Luxury goods” such as health and satisfaction are acquired for each person as an individual as a by-product of paid work, so to speak. And the companies? They already exist, the companies that have understood this and are on their way. And they are damn successful!

Liquid Work – Working 3.0 is more than just mobile working. Above all, it is free choice. It is the root of a new HR management, away from control, away from mistrust, towards trust and genuine, sustainable HR management.

Liquid Work = win-win

I invite you on a journey into the future that is not science fiction, but actually already exists. Only very few people are ready for it!
